Day 1: Tired and Cranky

Blah... is all I can say.  It is only 11:36 am and I am feeling quite beat...  Very little sleep last night was NOT how I intended to start my fast...   Went in to work for a few hours and feel like I have worked a 16 hour day and I was only there for 3.5 hours.  However...  Here is my day so far and will edit along the way to keep it all in one daily post..  Other than occasional random thoughts..

Let me also say that I dilute all my juice to make 16 ounces from each recipe.  If it produces more then I leave it undiluted.  I just stay consistent with 16 ounces as my meal for ease of calculations..  I am not calculating calories at this point since I just don't think that is necessary.  I might rethink it later...

6:00am :  The alarm clock sounded like a freight train...  Up and make coffee...  Then completely forget that I can't have that...  So I reach for my cup and heat up water to mix with my lemon juice...  8 ounces of divine citrus water.  Mouth feels fresh before my brushing.. I find that 1 ounce of juice is plenty mixed with 7 ounces of water

6:15am : Finds me again reaching for the coffee.. sigh.. I am desperate for a cup..  This is a morning habit that I absolutely love.  Instead I grab my breakfast juice from the fridge and put it in the freezer so it will be super cold when I am ready for it.

7:00am  : I retrieve my juice from the freezer and it tastes so green, fresh and completely quenches my hunger.  16 ounces of diluted "cucumber cool" juice (recipe is below).

7:30am :  I clock in to work.  18 ounces of water in hand I am ready for the morning.

8:00 :  I am refilling my water bottle.  Apparently I was really thirsty..  Plain water isn't all that nice. Going to have to juice some fruit so I can have a little flavor.

11:08am  :  Leaving work for the day.  I am starving..  Time to go home and get some juice in my belly.  Another 18 ounces of water has been consumed..

11:49am :  Making my lunch juice.

12:28pm : Lunch time.   16 ounces of "Lawn Clippings" juice (recipe below).   It has good flavor if you like parsley..  Not one of my favorites so next time I make this I will lighten up on the parsley to maybe a half of a handful.

1:25pm : I am soooo hungry...  My tummy is growling like crazy.  I think I need to take a hot shower.   I am trying to stay focused on the goal.

3:31pm :  Time for another juice I think.  16 ounces of "Apple Bliss" juice (recipe below).  I made this one earlier today.

4:32pm : another 8 ounces of water consumed..  I had a slight rumbly in the tumbly so I calmed the beast with the faithful plain tasting water I love so much (sarcastic tone).

6:11pm : Had to snack on a 6 ounce glass of juice.  I made up a quick tomato and celery juice.  No recipe needed for this one..  I am having a very hard time focusing..  I think due to lack of sleep.

8:20pm : ending my day with one last 12 ounce glass juice.. Straight orange to give me a boost for a night of movies..

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!!

Starting weight: 175.9

Sleepless in Bed

What a rotten thing to happen the night before my juice fast is to begin...  Sigh
Not tired and have to be up at 6am for work.   Grrrrrr.   Sigh
Good news is that my morning lemon juice is made as well as my morning juice meal.   Just gotta shake and go...
I have my water bottle ready to go as well so I should be set.   Being prepared for morning always helps if you have a job to go to.   Juicing would be much easier if you can stay home :)
Time to make the effort to get some sleep.    Good night to all!

Pre Day 1 thoughts

It is back in the saddle for this girl...  My Juicing adventures begin tomorrow..  I started a diary book of sorts to keep my favorites recipes in.  I plan to include tips and tricks as well...  I am also trying to find an easy way to add to my blog straight from my cell phone so that I don't have to wait all day to blog at night.  Feel free to comment if you have suggestions...

I am feeling pretty confident at this moment...  I have been juicing consistently for several months...  However I have had a minor weight gain and it needs to be controlled before it gets any worse... I am not getting any younger and it isn't they way I want to live my life.

Some personal background so you get an idea where I come from and who I am...

I am a twice divorced mother of 3 biological daughters and 1 adopted daughter which I love dearly..  My girls are my life and I wouldn't it.   I have a wonderful boyfriend with whom I intend to spend the rest of my life with.  He is quite amazing and you will find I enjoy talking about him A LOT.. hahaha

I love to garden, read, watch movies (huge sci fi buff here... )  Twilight, Harry Potter, and The Hobbit are my favorites.  I love climbing on the back of Bruces Harley and going to a long ride in the sun as well as just chilling at home with a pair of knitting needles or a crochet hook in hand..

A few tricks I have learned along the way:

Always pre prep your fruits and veggies as you can for the day.  It really makes the mornings much easier...

Remember to always use more veggies than fruits in your juices..  If you don't like strong greens use cucumbers to fill the gap and go easy on the spinach and kale..   High fruit juices mean a lot more calories.  36 ounces of veggie juice is way more filling than 8 ounces of fruit juice..  Equals out to the same calories...  Of course depending on your choices of veggies but you get the idea...

Always start your day with some fresh squeezed lemon juice with water.  It really does help with cleaning out your system as well as making your mouth feel better..

Drink lots of water between your juice meals.  You are going to be hungry and keeping your belly full of water helps curb the pangs of starvation...  Anyone who says otherwise is either a non eater or someone trying to make it look easy... Juicing is NOT easy folks.  It is one of the hardest things you will ever do!

If you cannot stay on a juice fast completely... nibble on some leafy greens...  A way better choice than french fries from McDonalds...

Stay strong.. Know that you are doing this to get healthy..  And lets be honest... to lose a few pounds along the way..
